Robin Miller
GIRT Chair, 2014

Welcome to 2014, a new year and a new beginning for the Government Information Round Table (GIRT) of the Wisconsin Library Association.

This will be an exciting year for GIRT! First of all, you’re reading this post on our brand new blog rather than our print newsletter. In 2013, GIRT decided to retire the print edition of Eagle Press, our longstanding publication of news from Wisconsin’s government information community. With WLA’s help, we have launched a new blog where we’ll keep you updated with news from libraries and librarians around Wisconsin, highlight new government publications, and share information about issues and proposals impact access to government information in libraries.

In addition, this year, GIRT will return to hosting Government Information Day in the Spring rather than the Fall. The GIRT Board is currently planning our upcoming Government Information Day for late May or early June. We’ll keep you updated about our progress and will announce the event date soon. Government Information Day is a great way to meet librarians from throughout Wisconsin, and whether you work with government documents a lot or a little, this event is a great opportunity to learn more about what’s happening in this field of librarianship.

GIRT looks forward to sponsoring conference presentations at upcoming WLA conferences, including the WLA Annual Conference. If you have an idea for a government information related conference presentation, please feel free to contact Robin Miller (millerob@uwec.edu). We would love to hear from you.

Best of luck to our government documents colleagues this year! We look forward to seeing you in the upcoming year.
